Joe & Erin Napoleone

Co-Founders of Choice Physical Therapy

Dr. Joe Napoleone, PT, DPT, OCS

A native of Rochester, NY, Joe completed his Bachelors in Exercise Science, Master of Science and Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) all at Ithaca College where he was a captain of the Bomber football team. Upon graduation Joe practiced in an outpatient setting for two years in Providence, RI prior to completing an orthopedic residency with an emphasis on movement science through Drayer Physical Therapy Institute in central PA.

Joe became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialities, one of only a handful in the Capital District. Joe is also certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) as well as the Functional Movement Screen (FMS). Outside the clinic, Joe is an adjunct professor with The Sage College of Physical Therapy program as well as a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Joe is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan and an avid reader—always looking for new things to learn. He enjoys chasing around his three children: Dominic, Cora, and Capri, family movie night, Saturday morning breakfast, and golfing with his wife Erin.

Dr. Erin Napoleone, PT, DPT

Born and raised in Troy, NY, Erin completed her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and Master of Science.  She graduated cum laude with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Ithaca College in 2008, where she was the captain of the Ithaca College Women’s basketball team. Her postgraduate studies have been in the area of functional movement rehabilitation.

This began in Rhode Island under the direct mentorship of two fellows of the Gray Institute of Functional Transformation for two years, and most recently culminated in completing coursework in Selective Functional Movement Assessment.

Erin is certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SMFA) and utilizes this training combined with functional rehabilitation methods in her evaluation and treatment of patients. Erin enjoys being a clinical instructor for graduate PT students as well as mentoring high school students who seek interest in physical therapy.

Erin enjoys being outdoors, whether running around the RPI track, walking her dog Cocoa around the neighborhood, or playing with her children Dominic, Cora, and Capri.
